NAYAKI (Kotturpuram Cultural Association) – A Brief History

NAYAKI was formed in the year 1994 by a small group of Carnatic Music lovers of Kottur Gardens, Kotturpuram.

The inauguration was on 2.4.1994 by Mr T T Vasu, the then President of Music Academy. The inaugural concert was by Smt. Sudha Raghunathan. Since then the pattern of holding one concert a month is in vogue. Apart from these monthly concerts, an Annual Music Festival is also organized. Started as a three day series, then a 9 day series, and now for the past three years it is a 7 Day Annual Music Festival. Currently our concerts are held at the air-conditioned Auditorium at the Abirami-Chidambaram Community Hall, 1/3A River View Road, Kotturpuram. Most of the Senior Vidwans have performed at Nayaki. We encourage young and upcoming artistes also in our monthly concerts. Our membership includes Engineers, Industrialists, and Government officials, Professors, Lawyers, Company Executives and other retired officials. The annual membership is Rs.800/- and the Life Membership is Rs.10,000/- with an admission fee of Rs.50/- for both cases.
